Brandi Hinkle on why Arkansas

by

Arkansas didn’t get hit as hard by the recession as many states did a decade ago, and there’s a reason. Brandi Hinkle, communications director for the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, discusses why and how Arkansas continues to thrive and what sets it apart economically.

Host Natalie Ghidotti talks to Hinkle about exciting initiatives AEDC is heading up, including new STEM programs and workforce development efforts with high school students across Arkansas, and discusses what makes Arkansas an attractive market for businesses both big and small.

-Describe your job in three words.

Civic-oriented, challenging, rewarding

-What would people be surprised to know about you?

Nearly a decade ago, I was on the Wheel of Fortune and went to the final round, only to be defeated by the missing letter “Q.” Liquid Soap haunts my dreams.

-On a typical Saturday morning, where or what would we find you doing?

Sitting on my back porch drinking coffee, perhaps at the movie theater, maybe out to brunch – but not early! I am many things, but I am NOT a morning person.

-What do you love most about Arkansas?

I love the people of Arkansas. They are genuine, hardworking, and friendly. I grew up away from here, but I’m proud to call Arkansas home.

-If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?

Time travel. I would go back into the past to visit my sweet grandmother, and I’d go to the future to see what my amazing daughter will do and be!
