The History of the Capital Hotel

by

When it’s Christmas time in Little Rock, The Capital Hotel is one of the first places that comes to mind for holiday activities and displays. It’s considered the most luxurious in town with a four-star rating from Forbes Travel and is included in Southern Living’s Hotel Collection.

It was built in 1872 by New Yorker tycoon William Denckla as a business opportunity in the, at that time, booming and growing capital city.

There is a rich political history with past guests including Presidents Ulysses S. Grant and Bill Clinton. It even served as Clinton’s local headquarters during his presidency.
