ESSE features paper dresses in latest exhibit

by
Purse Museum

ESSE Purse Museum & Store’s latest exhibit, “Cutting Edge,” featuring mod paper dresses from the 1960s, is here from May 1-20. These novelty fashions, created by Scott Paper Company in 1966 as a marketing stunt, gained traction among fashionistas, and soon, major department stores were selling them.

Mixed-media artist Laura Fanning’s “Caution: Garment May Be Flammable” collection of paper clothing makes up much of the exhibit. You can make your own paper fashions at Fanning’s workshop on Saturday, May 19 from 1-3 p.m.

Cost (includes materials) – $30. Only 20 spots are available, so book and call now.
