Check. Change. Control.

One in three American adults have high blood pressure. The American Heart Association has a mission to aid the problem: Check. Change. Control. The four-month program’s goal is to educate about blood pressure, self-management and the importance of “knowing your numbers.”

“It’s something you can do at home and be knowledgeable about,” said Daphne Gaulden, director of health equity with the AHA SouthWest Affiliate. “It’s one of those important numbers to keep one’s heart healthy.”

The SouthWest Affiliate in Little Rock was the first to begin the program four years ago, and it’s now implemented throughout AHA nationally.
