One of the pillars of Governor Asa Hutchinson’s campaign in 2014 was job creation in Arkansas. Since his induction in January 2015, over 74,500 Arkansans have been employed with newly created jobs, according to data from May 2017 provided by the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services.
Hutchinson’s job creation plan involves three different job categories: competitive projects, facilitated growth and market-driven growth. The Arkansas Economic Development Commission is responsible for the creation of competitive projects while facilitated growth is a response of direct investment from the state. Market-driven jobs derive from the overall business climate of Arkansas.
