The Arkansas 100 Podcast

“We want to compete.” This is the mission of Go Forward Pine Bluff (GFPB) CEO Ryan Watley. GFPB began as a citizen action group and eventually grew into a nonprofit dedicated to bettering the city of Pine Bluff and the lives of its citizens. Once one of Arkansas’ power cities, Pine Bluff is now on a path to revitalization. Host Natalie Ghidotti sits down with Watley to discuss how he went from a chemist to a civic leader in this episode of The Arkansas 100 Podcast.

Guest Q&A

– What’s something people would be surprised to know about you?
People are usually surprised that I played college football at a high level and that I have a Ph.D. in chemistry.

– What drew you to Go Forward Pine Bluff’s mission?
I was drawn to GFPB’s mission through the process in which the community came together
to develop the plan.

 – What’s your favorite part of living in Pine Bluff?
Pine Bluff is home and there is no place like home. Pine Bluff has amazing assets and so much untapped potential that now GFPB is working to bring to reality.

– Where is your favorite place to eat in Arkansas and what do you order?
My favorite place to eat is in the backyard of my home where the menu is unlimited. From crawfish broils, fried catfish, smoked seafood, to massive bbq’s, the cooking, fellowship, eating, wine and beverage lists are unmatched.

– We noticed your fun socks during our podcast interview. How would you describe your personal style?
While the socks may have some flair, I consider myself a renaissance guy. Vey conservative in my dress. However, there is a key to dressing is that one must wear the clothes not the other way around. Personal fitness has and always will be the key to how one appears in their outfit.
