Tire dumping is illegal, resulting in serious consequences for the environment – and for dumpers. Waste tires provide a haven for disease vectors such as mosquitos, posing a uniquely dangerous public health threat.
Though Arkansas’ waste tire policy provides ample disposal opportunities, several large dumpsites exist as dumping persists. Residents of the Inter-District can bring four passenger tires per person, per month to any of the public waste tire collection centers in the service area for free. Watch for proposals in the 2017 legislative session to further incentivize proper disposal.
