We’ve all got it. That cabinet in our kitchen overflowing with plastic grocery bags. While their only harm in the home is clutter, they’re extremely destructive to the environment.
Plastic bags are one of the most common sources of marine debris and take hundreds of years to decompose. For every ton of plastic bags recycled, (around 450,000 bags) eleven barrels of oil are saved.
However, plastic bags aren’t designed to be recycled in your regular recycling bin. Many local grocery stores have plastic bag recycling available to the public. Pack up that cabinet and recycle during your next trip!
