A new WikiProject, Women in Red, demands greater recognition for female historical figures by increasing the number of biographies about women on Wikipedia.
In 2015, only 15 percent of biographies on Wikipedia were about women. Since then, that number has climbed to over 17 percent – averaging 72 new articles every day.
The project also encourages Wikipedia contributors to author articles on works of art produced by females; schools, businesses and organizations founded by women; and women’s suffrage and health issues.
Follow @WikiWomenInRed on Twitter and contribute by editing articles, posting photos, joining the group’s talk page or by submitting material.
