Remembering the Woman’s Chronicle

by
Woman's Chronicle

March 3 marks 131 years since the first issue of the Woman’s Chronicle was released. Led by editor Catherine Campbell Cuningham and assistant editors Mary Burt Brooks and Haryot Holt Calhoon, the Woman’s Chronicle was a weekly newspaper dedicated to women’s interests and the political issues of the time.

Covering topics from cooking, fashion and literature to women’s suffrage, the publication was dedicated to the entertainment and advancement of all Arkansas women.

Woman’s Chronicle later became the official publication of the Arkansas Women’s Christian Temperance Union, highlighting organizations and institutions committed to the aid of women, children and the elderly.
