Little Rock Zoo Receives Recycling Award

by

The Arkansas Recycling Coalition presented Little Rock Zoo with the Government Recycler of the Year award. The award recognizes those that have “taken a leadership role in the development and promotion of recycling as a viable waste management tool,” according to its website.

Creative tactics such as utilizing elephant manure in landscaping mulch, adding recycling bins throughout the zoo and providing paperless educational material led to its award recognition.

Little Rock-based Regional Recycling played a large role in the zoo’s efforts by providing grants to supply tools for the manure recycling program and contributing 40 of the recycling containers.
