It’s no secret that the importance of STEM careers and training continues to climb. It’s also no secret that these fields are typically led by men. Girls of Promise and the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas aims to introduce eighth-grade girls to higher-level education in science, technology, engineering and math and corresponding careers.
“For girls, seeing is believing,” said Anna Beth Gorman, executive director of WFA. “They need to see themselves in that role.”
For two days, students nominated by their educators are invited to participate in higher education-focused activities and hear from inspiring women in STEM careers.
