What does the spirit of Arkansas look like? It’s not a picture of glamor but instead a community of real people, many of whom work the land and do their best to uplift their neighbors.
Artist Longhua Xu adopted Arkansas as his home in 1990, having immigrated from Shanghai, China. Named an Arkansas Living Treasure, his works show the extraordinary in the ordinary activities of his adopted state. He seeks to preserve the “soul of Arkansas,” the same name as his current exhibit at the Historic Arkansas Museum.
“Longhua Xu: The Soul of Arkansas” is on display now until October 16.
