Chilirhea Hopes to Raise $90,000 for Local Charities

by Michael Polzella

The 12th annual Chilirhea chili cook-off will take place Feb. 25 in Fayetteville. Since 2010, the event has donated earnings and funds to support Alzheimer’s and Dementia research. This year, the hosts hope to raise $90,000 for Alzheimer’s Arkansas and UAMS Reynolds Institute on Aging, rising above last year’s donation by $8,000.

Over 30 teams will prepare homemade chilis for judging and guest consumption. Tickets for entrance includes all-you-can eat chili and drinks.

In addition to chili, there will be a silent auction, hot dog stand, wine pull and live music from The Uncrowned Kings.
