Applications have closed and people from across the country have thrown their hat in the ring to become Little Rock’s next police chief. The 57 applicants include 11 from Arkansas, with seven of those coming from Little Rock.
Little Rock assistant chiefs Alice Fulk and Hayward Finks, currently serving as interim chief on a rotating basis along with Wayne Bewley, were among the applicants. Inquiries were received from 21 different states, ranging from bordering states like Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas, to California and New York.
Previous chief Kenton Buckner took the same position in Syracuse, New York.
