Arkansas Educational Television Network has produced a documentary on the historic downtown Little Rock Dreamland Ballroom. The documentary, titled “Dreamland Ballroom,” will premiere on March 31 at the CALS Ron Robinson Theater as a part of Arkansas Sounds.
The ballroom served as a musical and cultural epicenter for Little Rock’s African-American community in the early 1900’s. It hosted jazz legends including B.B. King, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong.
AETN created musical reenactments, with historically accurate wardrobe and makeup, featuring local musicians such as Rodney Block and The Real Music Lovers, Bijoux and Detroit Johnny.
