Nothing beats the summer heat like a dip in the neighborhood pool or visit to a local water park, but Chris Shillcutt with Little Rock’s Wild River Country encourages everyone to stay safe in the water.
Safety starts with swimming lessons. According to the CDC, swimming instruction can help prevent drowning deaths in children. More importantly, adults should always keep a close watch over kids who are in or around water.
Other advice:
*Avoid alcohol when swimming or supervising children
*Learn CPR
*Always swim with a buddy or where lifeguards are posted
*Remember, foam toys aren’t substitutes for life jackets
