How Arkansas supports minority, veteran and woman-owned businesses

by

The SBA profile for Arkansas indicates small businesses (fewer than 500 workers) employ about 48.5 percent of the private workforce. Yet, only 25 percent of these businesses are women-owned. Minority business ownership is even lower at 14.7 percent.

AEDC offers minority and women-owned businesses support services, as well as a matchmaking event Sept. 13. Some 300 minority, veteran and women-owned business representatives will meet with state agencies and private sector companies seeking vendors for things like office supplies, housekeeping and catering.

A networking reception will be held Sept. 12 at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center.
