What happened to the people of the Toltec Mounds?

by The 100 Companies

Between 650 A.D. and 1050 A.D., the Plum Bayou Culture, a Pre-Columbian Native American culture, called what is now the Toltec Mounds Archaeological State Park home. Then, they disappeared, leaving behind only the 18 Toltec Mounds as evidence of their existence. Only three mounds remain standing today.

Historians and archaeologists have never uncovered where the group came from nor where they went. Today, the state park houses hiking trails, but visitors say it also houses the spirits of the people who once inhabited the land. A hike through this state park may result in someone joining your journey.
